In my earlier post i covered about a good website which is better alternative to the official railway websites IndianRail or IRCTC to search for all Indian trains at once. Looks like the Indian Government has suppressed/blocked this site from accessing the information from them. Though you can see some functions are working fine, the seat availability query is blocked by railways when you directly query from IndiaRailInfo when using the browsers like Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox etc., When you access the IndiaRailInfo website from Internet Explorer and query for the seat /berth availability you would see the below message.
The Government has unilaterally suppressed and blocked the dissemination and sharing of public information through this website.
You may visit us using the Google Chrome or Firefox browsers where full functionality has now been restored.
However, please remember that the internet is a medium of choice. You are always free to go to the Government site instead.
Thanks for your patience.
However as mentioned in the above notice, the full functionality can be accessible with the Chrome extension and Firefox extensions. So, from now on if you need to use this usable functionality through this site, you require to use Chrome or Firefox with the plugin installed. You would see the below popup message when you open the website from Chrome or Firefox and query for seat/berth availability.
Click on the link “Click here to Download the Latest Version X.XX”
Confirm you want to download the extension by clicking on Continue
Confirm the installation by clicking on Install
Now access the India Rail Info extension by clicking on the Yellow colored bulb icon on Chrome. Enter the details and click on Search Trains, which would open the much improved Ajax based results page. Enjoy!
