The default Windows clipboard can store only one item at a time and it is emptied every time your computer restarts. You can access the built in clipboard with Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V key board shortcuts, alternatively you can also use the standard menu items Copy/Cut/Paste. For various reasons many users feel that the builtin functionality is not sufficient for their needs. Clipboard replacement utilities will provide a grater functionality and will give you much more power over your clipboard. They are useful for copying multiple lines of text then pasting them all in one go to a program like Notepad. Ditto is such a clipboard manager which enhances your windows built in clipboard and it is completely free. Ditto is an extension to the standard windows clipboard. It saves each item placed on the clipboard allowing you access to any of those items at a later time. Ditto allows you to save any type of information that can be put on the clipboard, text, binary, files, images, html, custom formats, etc.,

The interface is simple yet powerful, low utilization of resources, fast response, it stores unlimited clips in a sqlite database and it has hundreds of settings to play with. The built in search box enables you to find any clipboard item within seconds. Ditto is actively developed, it is more robust, efficient and flexible than most of its competitors. Usage of Ditto is very simple. Run the program and it will sit in the system tray and keeps  monitoring your clipboard activity. Copy things to the clipboard, e.g. using Ctrl-C with text selected in a text editor. Open Ditto by clicking its icon in the system tray or by pressing its Hot Key which defaults to Ctrl + ` – i.e. hold down Ctrl and press the back-quote (tilde ~) key. Double click or press enter on the item to paste it to the previous window. This command also places the content to standard windows clipboard which wnables you to repeat the last paste option using the standard windows Ctrl+V command.
